Reporting to Nursing leadership for the hospital site, the Manager of Patient Services assumes management responsibility for a major function or service that provides business support to Nursing operations. The position may oversee 24/7 care for multiple Nursing units and has responsibility for staff, financial management, quality improvement, and customer service outcomes within designated units and in collaboration with senior leadership.
The role includes developing and revising policies, procedures, and workflows, initiating personnel actions, completing performance appraisals, and assisting in budget development and long‑range goal setting. Compliance with applicable laws, regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies is also required.
The Manager of Patient Services will:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate activities related to nursing operations and DMC objectives.
- Model customer service excellence within the unit and across the department.
- Develop and revise departmental procedures, protocols, and organizational designs as needed.
- Recommend and support personnel actions, including hires, terminations, and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct performance appraisals and develop performance metrics for staff and unit outcomes.
- Assist in developing and monitoring budgets for the assigned units or operational support functions.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards, conduct audits, and implement recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
Master’s degree preferred. If a Master’s is held, the Bachelor or Master must be in Nursing. - Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
- Three years of progressive nursing experience.
DMC Harper University Hospital is a specialty referral hospital with Centers of Excellence in neuroscience, bariatric surgery, vascular services, cardiovascular services, hypertension, stroke prevention, and heart failure.
