Position: Registered Nurse (RN)

Naph Care is hi ring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RNs) to join our team of medical professionals in Detroit, MI where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Wayne County Detention Center
. This position will work 3 - 12‑hour shifts per week with rotating every other weekend.

Pay rates range from $39.97 – $42.08 per hour plus shift differentials where applicable. Pay rates per hour are based on employment status, site needs, licensure, and experience.

As a Correctional Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment where security is top priority, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities
  • Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
  • Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
  • Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well‑being of patients.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information.
Qualifications
  • New grads are encouraged to apply!
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the MI.
  • Possess an active CPR certification.
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health‑care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health‑care services.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Physical Capabilities

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
