Position: OB CRNA- North Knoxville Medical Center - Full Time

Position Requirements

We are seeking two CRNAs to join our team at North Knoxville in a unique, flexible OB/OR rotation model
. This role offers a rare blend of autonomy, work-life balance, and professional fulfillment in a supportive environment.

Description

North Knoxville Medical Center is an acute care hospital. The Powell hospital and medical center offers private patient rooms with dedicated family areas. In addition, the hospital has technologically advanced information and communications systems, decentralized nursing stations for better efficiency and patient care, and noise-reduction materials to provide patients with a more comfortable experience.

Awards

Awarded the Leapfrog Group’s highest grade, an “A,” in the spring 2022 hospital safety grade scoring period.

Case Assignment
  • 50% OB and 50% OR cases
  • Small, 8‑bed birthing unit
  • Low acuity and low‑risk cases
  • Average of 2–3 epidurals per day
Shift
  • OB Rotation:
    Three 24‑hour in‑house shifts + one 12‑hour shift over 14 days (total: 84 hours every two weeks)
  • Followed by a14‑day OR schedule
  • OR Rotation:
    Standard schedule with 8‑hour shifts, including two late days and two early outs based on OR volume
  • Schedule varies every two weeks, offering flexibility and autonomy
  • PTO can be applied during non‑OB weeks, allowing up to 3 consecutive weeks off, depending on the schedule
Call Set up
  • Dedicated private call room equipped with a bed, recliner, TV, fridge, and private bathroom with shower
  • Supportive and responsive backup system for OB emergencies

Team Highlights

CRNA‑only model for OB schedule, with backup call by MDs if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Pre‑anesthesia assessment
  • Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
  • Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
  • Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
  • Monitoring of the patient’s physiological condition
  • Performance of clinical intervention as needed
Requirements
  • Current license as a registered professional nurse
  • Graduation from an accredited program of nurse anesthesia education
  • Certified or recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Confident and comfortable working independently in a CRNA‑only OB model
