Registered Nurse
- Ambulatory Neurosurgery (Full-Time) Days-Detroit
Henry Ford Health
Location: Detroit
Shift: Full‑Time, 8‑hour shifts 8:00 am–4:30 pm, no weekends.
Responsibilities- Provides leadership and coordination of quality, compassionate patient care.
- Uses the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver, delegate, supervise, document care and teaching for patients and families.
- Communicates effectively with the health‑care team.
- Works side‑by‑side with surgeons during their clinic visit – scheduling surgeries, tests, film results, teaching, phone calls with patients, and in‑basket management.
- Performs physical assessment of patients as directed by the physician or physician extender.
- Examines wounds, reports status, and monitors for significant abnormal laboratory results or changes in health status.
- Performs rounds to evaluate patients and recognises abnormal lab results or clinical changes.
- Conducts psycho‑social assessment of health habits, safety issues, and support systems, and reports emotional stability to physicians.
- Reviews lab and imaging data, notifies physicians of abnormalities, and develops nursing care plans based on nursing diagnoses.
- Incorporates safe and evidence‑based practices into daily nursing care, directs and delegates nursing tasks based on acuity, and performs resuscitative and diagnostic procedures.
- Documents all care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Handles triage via telephone or direct contact, assesses complaints, advises patients per protocol, directs them to appropriate care area, and refers to home‑health and community agencies.
- Initiates social‑services and home‑health referrals, resolves complaints, and collaborates with other disciplines and family/community resources.
- Participates in departmental and divisional quality assessment and improvement programs and maintains compliance with regulatory standards.
- Implements research protocols and collects data as required.
- Designs, utilizes, and documents teaching materials for patients, staff, and families; participates in professional development; precepts new staff and students as requested.
- Upholds policies, procedures, and standards of Henry Ford Medical Group (HFMG) and supports the mission, vision, and values.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Successful completion of the HFMG Pharmacology test.
- Required certifications for state regulatory or community standards (e.g., ACLS, Oncology Certified Nurse).
- Maintains current clinical knowledge in the specialty area and demonstrates analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services and communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical‑group personnel.
- Preferred experience in neurology/neuromedicine and ambulatory/clinic office settings.
- Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS or ACLS per HFHS policy.
