The Retail Territory Representative is responsible for supporting and coordinating sales efforts with national building products retailers in an assigned territory. Responsible for developing relationships at the store level with all levels of store management and associates. Key objectives are to achieve sales goals, provide outstanding customer service and satisfaction, and working across BU’s promote the One Certain Teed strategy within retail accounts.
Continually promote existing and new building products, and conduct team training for the retailer organization in the areas of selling skills, product knowledge, technical information and installation. In addition, position will be responsible for merchandising assigned product categories in the store that fall outside current retailer agreements, executing defined marketing and sales promotional initiatives, identifying opportunities to expand product representation in assigned stores and driving Certain Teed branded category penetration.
- Enhance the safety culture of Certain Teed / Saint-Gobain by personally committing to and demonstrating safe work practices and ethics.
- Complete 3-5 store visits per day depending upon territory size/geography, covering a multi-state region focused on big box home improvement retailers with a concentration of stores.
- Conduct effective product presentations to include retail associate training in product selling skills, installation and technical information.
- Relationship development and management at each store location with various store managers, departments and associates.
- Maintain active engagement relationship with Pro Desks / Contractor Sales Teams / Outside Sales Teams
- Engage with local BU TMs as needed.
- Participate in store contractor events / luncheons as needed.
- In-store service comprised of merchandising and continually maintaining the integrity of Point of Purchase material and displays, for those items that fall outside of current retailer agreements and fee structures.
- Track and report sales call activity via CRM to management including participation in a monthly conference call and weekly / bi-weekly team calls as needed.
- Maintain, via CRM, comp shop data and competitive POG set data
- Promote and foster One Certain Teed approach and strategy across Retailers via current, new products or categories.
- Identify potential opportunities to expand product offering both in-store, on-shelf and on-line.
- Support product launches, new sets and rollouts as needed in person.
- Achieve sales goals and provide outstanding customer service.
- Working in coordination & collaboration with National Accounts Managers – Retail across respective account.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills with a positive attitude and excellent relationship building skills.
- This position requires a self-starting, highly motivated, individual who works well in a team environment and with minimal supervision.
- Participates in Sales Team meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested by management
- Requires adaptability and methodical/analytical problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented and deadline sensitive
- Execute marketing and sales promotional initiatives.
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Building materials and/or retail sales experience a plus.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration and sales techniques.
- Effective communication skills - presenting, active listening, influencing both oral and written.
- Candidates must have an interest in promoting and demonstrating building materials.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability multi-task and work on several projects at a time.
