The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electrical systems and equipment throughout the manufacturing and production facility. This position will support safe and reliable operation of production equipment, building systems, automation, and electrical infrastructure while minimizing equipment downtime.
The ideal candidate will have strong industrial electrical experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and equipment.
- Diagnose electrical problems using schematics, wiring diagrams, meters, and other test equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair motors, motor controls, starters, contractors, relays, sensors, and control circuits.
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems.
- Troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo systems, and other motor-control equipment.
- Install and maintain conduit, wiring, junction boxes, disconnects, panels, and electrical components.
- Perform preventative and predictive electrical maintenance on production equipment.
- Respond quickly to electrical breakdowns and production equipment failures.
- Assist with equipment installations, start-ups, upgrades, and modifications.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Maintain and troubleshoot 120V, 240V, 480V, and three-phase electrical systems.
- Inspect electrical equipment and systems for potential safety hazards or failures.
- Perform electrical testing and verify equipment is operating safely and properly.
- Assist with facility electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and building equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and document repairs and completed work.
- Follow all OSHA, NFPA, company safety, and electrical safety requirements.
- Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before performing maintenance or repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work closely with production and maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
- Perform other maintenance and electrical duties as assigned.
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and GMP requirements.
- Ensure electrical work does not compromise food safety or production standards.
- Work safely around refrigeration systems, washdown areas, wet environments, conveyors, processing equipment, and other industrial machinery.
- Use electrical components and installation methods appropriate for wet and washdown environments.
- Follow company procedures for maintaining equipment in a sanitary production environment.
- Technical school, electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent training preferred.
- 3+ years of industrial electrical experience preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, food-processing, packaging, or production environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting motors, controls, PLCs, VFDs, and industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices and OSHA requirements.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance and production personnel.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in awkward positions for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and electrical components.
- Ability to work from ladders, lifts, platforms, and elevated areas.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, noisy, and refrigerated production environments.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other protective equipment.
- Ability to respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations.
This position may require:
- 2 nd shift 3:00pm – 1:00am Monday – Friday and every other Saturday
