Position: Social Worker Job for Leave Coverage for 2025-2026 | Detroit, MI

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Pay:
From $47-$53/hr, based off experience.

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing for a full-time School Social Worker to provide leave coverage within a Detroit-area school district. This position plays a vital role in supporting students social, emotional, and behavioral development, while ensuring they can access their education in a safe and supportive environment. Detroit schools serve a diverse community, and the district is seeking a compassionate professional who can connect with students and families from all backgrounds.

Requirements (Michigan):

  • Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program

  • Current Michigan licensure as an LMSW or LLMSW

  • Michigan Department of Education (MDE) School Social Worker Approval

  • Previous experience working with K12 students is strongly preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct individual and group counseling services to students with emotional, behavioral, or social challenges

  • Conduct social work evaluations and contribute to multidisciplinary team assessments

  • Develop and implement intervention strategies to improve attendance, classroom participation, and student engagement

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to address barriers to learning

  • Assist in crisis intervention, behavior planning, and conflict resolution
