Step into a rewarding school-based contract role supporting a diverse student population as a Social Worker for the school year. Located in a vibrant community near Detroit, this position covers a maternity leave from October 2026 to February 2027. Work full-time with an elementary-through-high-school caseload, making a meaningful impact on students daily lives.
In this role, you will work primarily with K-5 students but also support a small number of middle and high schoolers. Sessions are scheduled in 30-minute blocks, providing targeted support to 14 students 2-4 times per month and another 16 students 1-2 times monthly. The primary focus centers on IEP and 504 students, with a caseload currently at 30, and the possibility of a few additional students pending evaluations.
Youll use your rapport-building, problem-solving, and intervention skills to foster student growth and well-being.
Experience:
- Valid Michigan School Social Worker credential or eligibility
- Experience delivering social work services in K-12 settings
- Strong understanding of IEP/504 processes and documentation
- Ability to develop and implement effective counseling/intervention strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff and families
- Flexible, adaptable, and committed to student success
- Provide direct social work services to assigned students by IEP/504 mandates
- Maintain accurate progress notes and documentation
- Conduct skill-building activities and counseling sessions (30-minute blocks)
- Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to support students
- Participate in IEP/504 meetings and assist with ongoing evaluations
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment
