The University of Detroit Mercy, Michigan’s largest, most comprehensive private University, is currently accepting application for the full‑time position of Assistant Director of Sports Medicine. Detroit Mercy is an NCAA Division I institution that sponsors 17 varsity sports that compete primarily in the Horizon League.
We are seeking a dynamic team player to join our staff that has a passion for collegiate athletics and enjoys working with student‑athletes and coaches. The Assistant Director of Sports Medicine will be primarily overseeing Women’s Lacrosse/Men’s Soccer administrative duties and other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. We are anticipating two new positions that may be available this month with sport assignments TBD.
Additionally, The Assistant Director of Sports Medicine will work in conjunction with our staff of Athletic Trainers, Team physicians & consultants, and Strength & Conditioning staff with the goal of building top‑performing student‑athletes and creating an inviting environment from a student‑athlete welfare perspective.

- Energetic and outgoing personality with a minimum of a Master’s Degree
- NATABOC (National Athletic Trainers’ Board of Certification) and Athletic Training Licensure by the State of Michigan (may be obtained upon hire)
- CPR/AED Certification
- Post‑Graduate experience in the collegiate setting is preferred
- Appreciation of the student‑athlete experience, being a team player on and off campus and have self‑less energy for the department and well‑being of the student‑athlete
- Embrace the importance of effective communication and solid documentation skills
- Understanding of long work days and extensive travel and a commitment to knowing what it takes to make a difference in staff and student‑athlete’s lives
- A great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life is a must
