American Traveler is hiring a Circulating and Scrub RN for an Operating Room position in a rural hospital setting, requiring proficiency in both circulating and scrub roles across multiple surgical specialties.
Details- Rural hospital surgery department setting
- Functions as both circulating and scrub nurse
- Case mix includes c-sections, hand cases, podiatry, and cataracts
- Proficiency across multiple surgical specialties may include general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, ophthalmology, ENT, and endoscopy
- Straight day shifts with flexible hour options (8s, 10s, or 12s)
- On-call required during the week only for c-sections, no weekend call
- Active RN license (ND or compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS as required by facility
- Demonstrated competency in both circulating and scrub nurse roles
- Background in rural surgical setting preferred
- Provide safe, evidence-based care throughout preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative phases
- Coordinate patient care, maintain sterile environment, document procedures, and ensure regulatory compliance as circulator
- Establish and maintain sterile field, prepare instruments and supplies, and maintain accurate counts as scrub nurse
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and perioperative team members
- Participate in emergency and trauma procedures as needed
- Assist with inventory management, equipment troubleshooting, quality improvement, and orientation of new staff
- Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to fluctuating surgical volumes and expanded responsibilities common in rural healthcare settings
