QC Microbiology Technician - Swindon
Opportunity:
This is a brand new position created due to expansion. The role is for an experienced Microbiologist who will carry out high‑volume microbiology testing on finished drug products.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct QC Microbiology testing on finished drug products.
- Support QC Scientists in microbiology testing.
- Maintain the microbiology laboratory.
- Maintain stock levels and prepare logbooks.
- Maintain lab equipment, including VLF Class II cabinet, boiling water bead baths, media preparation (pH testing of media, autoclave waste & sterilisation of equipment).
- Maintain weekly stock culture isolates.
- Wash micro glassware and use the glass washer.
- Conduct in‑process sampling testing when required.
- Collect environmental monitoring samples as required.
- Conduct growth promotion testing of incoming goods.
- Clean shaven; no makeup allowed in the clean rooms.
- Microbiologist qualification or equivalent.
- Ideally experience within the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated environment.
- Good IT skills – Word, Excel and Outlook.
This is a 12‑month contract based in Swindon, with 37.5 hours per week Monday‑Friday 09:00‑17:30, PAYE rate £13.58 per hour.
