QC Microbiology Technician - Swindon

Opportunity:

This is a brand new position created due to expansion. The role is for an experienced Microbiologist who will carry out high‑volume microbiology testing on finished drug products.

• Conduct QC Microbiology testing on finished drug products.
• Support QC Scientists in microbiology testing.
• Maintain the microbiology laboratory.
• Maintain stock levels and prepare logbooks.
• Maintain lab equipment, including VLF Class II cabinet, boiling water bead baths, media preparation (pH testing of media, autoclave waste & sterilisation of equipment).
• Maintain weekly stock culture isolates.
• Wash micro glassware and use the glass washer.
• Conduct in‑process sampling testing when required.
• Collect environmental monitoring samples as required.
• Conduct growth promotion testing of incoming goods.

• Clean shaven; no makeup allowed in the clean rooms.
• Microbiologist qualification or equivalent.
• Ideally experience within the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated environment.
• Good IT skills – Word, Excel and Outlook.

This is a 12‑month contract based in Swindon, with 37.5 hours per week Monday‑Friday 09:00‑17:30, PAYE rate £13.58 per hour.
