Salary £32,000 - £39,000 per annum (including shift allowance)

We are currently working in partnership with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced Lead Operator to join their night shift production team on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineering professional with strong machine setting, fault finding, and maintenance experience to step into a key role within a high-performing production environment. The successful candidate will also provide support in a supervisory capacity when required, assisting with shift leadership duties.
Working Pattern
Sunday: 11:00pm - 7:00am
Monday to Thursday: 10:00pm - 6:00am
39 hours per week - Permanent night shift
The Role
As Lead Operator, you will be responsible for setting, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a range of specialist manufacturing equipment used in a precision engineering environment. You will play a vital role in ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety.
In addition, you will support continuous improvement activities and assist with first-line leadership responsibilities during shift leader absence.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and optimise specialist production machinery
Carry out fault finding and diagnostics on equipment
Perform first-line maintenance and support tooling requirements
Monitor and control processes to maximise output and minimise scrap
Use precision measuring equipment within a manufacturing environment
Support workflow coordination in liaison with production planning
Assist with shift handovers and supervisory duties when required
Drive continuous improvement and maintain quality standards
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
Strong machine setting, operating, and fault-finding skills
Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
