As an Assistant Accountant you will ensure an accurate and timely month end close across UNICAT companies. This role will provide valuable support within the finance function serving the UK, US, European and Indian Group entities and gain valuable exposure to IFRS based accounting, record-to-report activities, year-end audit and financing of UNICAT’s operations. This role will also provide development route towards becoming a qualified accountant and future progression at UNICAT group.
Key Responsibilities- Take full ownership of bank reconciliations at Unicat, ensuring that all payments are posted to the ledger, receipts accounted for and all posting errors resolved before the month end
- Own full responsibility for Finance facility reconciliations
- Process uploads of invoiced sales data to the finance facility
- Process payments in the bank (BACS, SEPA, Faster Payments, inter-account transfers, etc)
- Post all transactions for Indian subsidiary
- Support accounts receivable during the period of holidays and sickness (credit control, sales invoice processing, posting of receipts, preparation of cash flow update)
- Prepare backup information in relation to intercompany recharges, agree postings with relevant senior accountant and processing transactions in both ledgers (company recharging costs and company receiving them)
- Prepare intercompany reconciliation matrix for UK and US companies
- Post depreciation journals across UK and US companies
- Maintain fixed asset registers in the UK and the US
- Assist senior accountants with preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
- Process employee expenses
- Post credit card transactions for UK and US companies
- Assist with research and preparation of the US Landed Costs
- Assist with and eventually lead on the preparation of the European subsidiary reporting
- Ad-hoc tasks as requested by senior management or senior accountants
- QBE (qualified by experience) or a Graduate in accountancy, finance, mathematics or business-related degree
- Willingness to develop and grow with the UNICAT group
- Appetite to works towards CIMA or ACCA qualifications
- Experience of transactional processing and exceptional attention to detail
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on new responsibilities
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
