The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Elective Surgical Unit(Ward 12), at Dewsbury Hospital.
We have a vacancy for a 30 hours per week permanent post, day and night shifts, seven days a week.
Applications from experienced and newly qualified Registered Nurses are welcome. Mentorship and a period of supernumerary status will be given to the successful applicant
Ward 12 (ESU) is a mixed Adult elective surgical facility with an extensive range of surgery being performed, gynaecology, breast surgery, general surgery, urology, plastics and many more., as day cases and in patients.
The Ward has 18 beds and is managed by a professional friendly and experienced multi disciplinary Team .
Main dutiesThe successful applicant will have access to excellent training and development opportunities and will be supported and welcomed into our friendly dynamic and knowledgeable team.
You will be expected to work both independently and alongside your colleagues to provide the highest level of care.
You need to be a dedicated and motivated individual with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work in a busy environment.

Qualifications Essential person specification requirements- Registered Nurse with the NMC or on an NMC approved BSc/MSc nursing programme due to register with the NMC within 12 months.
- Professional, clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree or equivalent.
- Up to date knowledge of current nursing issues, research and practice.
- Ability to plan, assess, implement and evaluate patient care. Prioritise tasks.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships.
- Delegate and co-ordinate person centred patient care effectively.
- Work effectively as part of a Multidisciplinary Team.
- Supervise junior staff and learners in practice.
- An ability to perform clinical skills with dexterity for example: insertion and removal of peripheral cannulation, venepuncture and catheters.
- Administer medications using a range of routes
- IT skills which can be built upon to incorporate the use of hospital administration, information and training systems.
