About the roleAn Exciting opportunity has arisen within our Emergency Department for Band 7 ED Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team at Dewsbury and District Hospital.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the leadership of the department and the co-ordination of the delivery of patient care. You will be able to demonstrate expert knowledge in emergency nursing and knowledge of the Trust’s core values. You will ensure that the team is informed, trained and developed to enable care to be safely and effectively delivered to patients.
You will need to be a team player, have proven leadership and management skills, be energetic, proactive and committed to your own professional development and that of others.
Clinical Leadership & Role Modelling: Maintain a nursing culture which is open to change, new ideas and concepts. Lead, motivate, and support nurses and clinical support workers; foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
Professional Development
:
Provide mentorship, clinical supervision, and learning opportunities; actively pursue your own professional development and encourage the same across the team.
Operational & Resource Management
:
Manage staffing, rotas and equipment to ensure smooth, cost-effective, safe delivery of care.
Collaboration
:
Work closely with the ED clinical educators and Quality and Safety lead.

Essential person specification requirementsQualifications:
- Registered Nurse
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Recent post registration experience in an emergency setting.
- Evidence of competency in teaching and assessing
- Evidence of further study within speciality
Experience:
- Substantial post registration experience with proven experience at team leader level
- Relevant experience in specialty
- Evidence of previous resource management experience
- Experience in research and audit.
Skills and Abilities:
- Clear and concise written English skills
- Good numeracy skills
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Critical thinking skills
- Analytical skills
- Ability to manage own workload
- Ability to talk to patients and relatives in a friendly manner
