Purpose of JobThe Payments Manager is responsible for overseeing the end‑to‑end payments ecosystem including payment processing, reconciliation, payment operation and vendor relationship. This role ensures reliable, scalable, secure, and cost‑effective payment solutions across card networks, digital wallet, store card, and alternative payment methods. You will partner with Finance, Tech, Fraud Prevention, Compliance and external payment providers to optimize authorization rate, reduce fraud and chargeback, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve customer experience.
Key Responsibilities- Own full lifecycle of payment processing across card networks, digital wallets, and alternative payment methods.
- Develop and execute the company’s payment strategy to support growth, expansion, and new markets.
- Monitor payment success rates, declines, retries, and transaction performance.
- Optimize payment cost structure, interchange, scheme fees, and processor pricing.
- Manage relationships with payment processors and fintech partners.
- Lead RFPs, contract negotiations, and ongoing performance reviews.
- Oversee integrations, migrations, and new payment method launches.
- Act as the primary escalation point for processor outages and critical incidents.
- Ensure settlement accuracy across multiple processors and currencies.
- Partner with Accounting for reconciliation, cash application, and audit support.
- Build and maintain dashboards for payment performance, costs, fraud, and disputes.
- Partner with Tech Team on payment system design, reliability, and scalability.
- Support fintech projects and new business initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in payments, fintech, financial operations, or e‑commerce.
- Deep knowledge of:
- Card Networks
- Acquirers, gateways, and processors
- Alternative Payment Methods
- Agentic Commerce
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and solve complex problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external financial partners.
- Experience navigating change and driving process improvements.
Mental Functions:
Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department. May contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department. This position performs a variety of routine duties within established policies and procedures or by referral to supervisor’s guidelines.
Physical Functions:
Sitting required 90% of the time. Walking and standing required 5% of the time respectively. No heavy lifting required. Constant keyboarding and telephone usage.
