Asphalt Foreman

Division/Operation: Dickinson Operations

Project Location: Dickinson, ND

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious individual who works well under pressure and possesses a strong work ethic to join our Dickinson Operations as an Asphalt Foreman. This position will assist to supervise mainline operations of asphalt paving. Depending on project status &/or specifications, night paving may also be required.

Essential Job Functions
  • Oversight: production, equipment (needs and maintenance), personnel, quality control testing, documentation, communication with General Asphalt Superintendent.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Assist with testing and mix design by working with testing personnel in various capacities.
  • Work with the owner’s representative.
  • Enforce safety regulations.
  • Efficiently operate equipment used in road construction.
  • Train crew members to become efficient equipment operators.
  • Prepare various daily reports and track quantities of daily work.
  • Assist General Asphalt Superintendent to hire field crew (i.e. truck drivers, operators, laborers).
  • Perform other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.

    Job Requirements
  • Ability to pass exams to receive certification in basic aggregate & hot mix asphalt testing.
  • Possess a valid driver license (Class A or B license preferred).
  • Travel required within a 300-mile radius of Dickinson, ND.
  • Work Experience Minimum: 2 full seasons crew supervision & 5 full seasons on an asphalt crew.
    • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground, climb, reach (including overhead), grasp, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist (including neck), manipulate objects, use a telephone and/or communication equipment, perform moderate lifting, and sit for extended periods of time (typically in a vehicle).
  • Ability to see and hear well – either naturally or with correction – and speak clearly.
  • Common-level verbal and written communication skills.
