Position: Locum MD (Medical Doctor);DO (Osteopathic Doctor) General Surgery

Description

We are currently seeking an Entry‑Level Locum MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) specializing in General Surgery. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing temporary medical services to healthcare facilities in Dickinson. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the smooth operation of various surgical projects, making a significant impact on patient care and outcomes. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast‑paced medical environment while contributing to the well‑being of the community.

Responsibilities:
  • Performing surgical procedures in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
  • Assessing and diagnosing patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
  • Collaborating with healthcare teams to develop comprehensive care plans.
  • Monitoring and managing post‑operative care and recovery.
  • Participating in patient consultations and providing education on treatment options.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in surgical care.
  • Documenting patient information and treatment plans accurately.
  • Adhering to ethical and professional standards in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure to practice medicine in the state of Dickinson.
  • Strong surgical skills and knowledge of current surgical techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑based healthcare environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Commitment to providing high‑quality patient care.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different healthcare settings and patient populations.

Trauma Level: IV

Schedule:

24‑hour call, 10 shifts per month

25 beds

Daily Census: 15 patients, 0‑5 procedures per call shift

Procedures:
Abdominal, endoscopy, liver, stomach, gallbladder, appendix, colon, laparoscopy, spleen

Preferred Procedures:
Vascular, pediatrics, pulmonary, thyroid

Must be available for phone consults, admissions, and rounding on general surgery patients

Board certification required

Paid travel & lodging
