Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineer

Work as a key project team member on water or wastewater projects from the planning phase through design and construction. A Graduate Engineer will independently and collaboratively contribute to the design and development of project plans and specifications while working with project team members. Graduate Engineers typically report to a Project Manager or Senior Engineer and may serve as the resident project representative (RPR) during construction.
TypicalTasks and Duties
- Provide professional civil engineering services, including planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation and project management.
- Communicate frequently with supervisors and project managers, providing updates and progress during all project phases.
- Attend company, project, and client meetings on a regular basis.
- Prepare proposals and participate in interviews to secure work for the firm; business‑development responsibilities may increase with experience and mentorship.
- Think independently and make rational judgment calls.
- Take on the role of project engineer and owner’s on‑site representative during construction.
- Work with Apex team members on project plans and specifications.
- Follow company CADD procedures.
- Adhere to the employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
- Perform duties conscientiously, legally, and ethically with strong attention to detail.
- Work independently and in a team environment.
- Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
- Travel and out‑of‑town stays may be required periodically; overtime may be necessary during construction season.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Engineer Intern (EI) certified or able to obtain certification within one year.
- 5 Years of experience working as a Civil or Environmental Engineer in the water or wastewater field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Flexible working style and willingness to modify schedules to meet deadlines or client needs.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other CADD software (plus).
- Knowledge or experience with water distribution or collection system modeling (plus).
- Experience in collection and/or distribution system design, pump station design, sizing and selecting equipment, evaluating treatment alternatives, process calculations, preparing drawings and cost opinions (plus).
- A valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one).
- Required to work in the office or on site as scheduled.
- Operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
- Work outdoors during construction season.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Work scheduled and required hours.
- Perform essential duties as described; accommodations may be made for disabilities.

Hourly Base Pay Range
: $31 - $40 (Actual base pay is dependent on factors such as experience, education, licensure, job location, and internal equity).
