Responsibilities

• Operating Room Preparation
  • Prepare the operating room and the sterile field for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and safely.
  • Organize sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment using strict sterile technique.
• Surgical Support
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology as it relates to the patient and surgical procedure.
  • Independently perform tasks within the sterile field.
  • Act in the role of a scrub nurse in accordance with the patient's care plan and departmental staffing requirements.
  • Anticipate both usual and unexpected events during surgical procedures and respond efficiently.
• Aseptic Practices & Safety
  • Adhere rigorously to aseptic practices, providing and maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
• Patient Care & Departmental Duties
  • Assist with patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Perform additional duties according to department-specific expectations as identified and assigned.

• Required Education
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Required Licensure & Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS):
    Required upon hire. Acceptable certifications include:
    • American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
    • American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO (must state "Professional Level-with AED")
    • American Heart Association:
      Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
  • Certification in Surgical Technology
• Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
