Responsibilities
- Operating Room Preparation
- Prepare the operating room and the sterile field for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and safely.
- Organize sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment using strict sterile technique.
- Surgical Support
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology as it relates to the patient and surgical procedure.
- Independently perform tasks within the sterile field.
- Act in the role of a scrub nurse in accordance with the patient's care plan and departmental staffing requirements.
- Anticipate both usual and unexpected events during surgical procedures and respond efficiently.
- Aseptic Practices & Safety
- Adhere rigorously to aseptic practices, providing and maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
- Patient Care & Departmental Duties
- Assist with patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Perform additional duties according to department-specific expectations as identified and assigned.
- Required Education
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Required Licensure & Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS):
Required upon hire. Acceptable certifications include:- American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO (must state "Professional Level-with AED")
- American Heart Association:
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
- Certification in Surgical Technology
- Basic Life Support (BLS):
- Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
