Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) position at a rural hospital requiring at least 2 years of LDRP experience and active ND or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute rural hospital setting within a combined Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit
- Unit includes 4 Labor & Delivery beds and 7 postpartum beds
- Patient population includes women >35 weeks gestation and mom/baby couplets
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are Labor: 1:1-2 and Postpartum: 1:2-3, following AWHONN guidelines
- Titrate drips including Magnesium, Oxytocin, and others as appropriate for labor and postpartum care
- Block scheduling with 12-hour shifts and required rotation between days and nights
- Every third weekend and holiday coverage as needed
- First to float, primarily to MSP/ED for helping hands or sitter duties
- EMR system used is Meditech; fetal monitoring via OB Trace Vue
- Orientation includes 3 twelve-hour shifts
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Participate in all phases of obstetric nursing, including care of patients in labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum
- Provide neonatal respiratory support using CPAP, Bipap, and high-flow oxygen equipment as needed
- Circulate for the baby during C-section procedures
- Team environment with consistent providers, strong focus on teamwork and clear communication
- NICU is over an hour away; must be comfortable with limited on-site services
- RTO up to 7 days may be approved with request at time of submission; additional time off requests will not be granted
- Holiday coverage required depending on scheduling needs
- First-time travelers will be considered for the position
- Active ND or compact RN license in hand at time of application
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent LDRP experience required
- Experience titrating obstetric and postpartum drips required
- Must be able to work both day and night shifts as scheduled
- Ability to pass fit testing for N95 or equivalent respirators; facial hair must not interfere with fit
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any Common Spirit-associated facility within the past year
