- Lead and manage all daily Patient Access operations in a hospital environment.
- Oversee registration processes, financial clearance activities, and related Patient Access functions.
- Support short-term and long-term planning for all registration and Patient Access areas.
- Manage pre-service and point-of-service financial clearance activities.
- Actively manage budgets and department costs.
- Develop and implement action plans to improve processes, service, and financial performance.
- Manage and monitor all operational metrics to ensure department goals are met, including Service Level Agreements and budget targets.
- Plan and manage staffing, including identifying needs, interviewing, hiring, and scheduling.
- Oversee wage and salary related activities for direct reports.
- Direct orientation, training, and ongoing development for Patient Access staff.
- Grow and mentor supervisors and ensure staff engagement, alignment, and commitment to strategy, mission, and goals.
- Communicate proactively and positively with your direct supervisor to support your own professional growth.
- Enforce departmental policies, procedures, practices, and work rules in line with hospital and corporate guidelines.
- Assist in developing new policies and procedures as needed.
- Communicate key information, department status, and issues to staff, Director, and CFO.
- Identify operational gaps or problems and recommend solutions for improvement.
- Address staff concerns, resolve problems, and support a positive work environment.
- Supervise Supervisor, Patient Access.
- Indirectly oversee Patient Access Representatives (levels I–IV).
- Report to an onsite Director (Director I or II).
- Serve as the standalone Patient Access leader at a clinic facility when applicable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership and management abilities in a healthcare setting.
- Thorough knowledge of healthcare information systems and patient registration workflows.
- Clear understanding of Revenue Cycle Management and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to communicate detailed information clearly in both oral and written form.
- Strong ability to drive, monitor, and improve key operational metrics.
- Ability to work collaboratively with admitting, clinical, and financial areas.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three to five years of healthcare supervisory experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the relationship between admitting, clinical areas, financial areas, and financial clearance activities.
- Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods.
- Work is performed in a hospital environment.
- Must be available to work hours and days as needed based on departmental and system demands.
- Must be available for on-call coverage as needed.
