Job Overview

Airgas is hiring a District Manager in Fargo, ND to lead and motivate Branch, Administrative, Operating and Sales associates. The role carries full P&L responsibility and focuses on safety, top‑line growth, EBITDA performance and operational excellence across the territory.

Responsibilities
  • Travel within district required.
  • Manage sales force for organic top line growth; may have direct responsibility for key customer accounts.
  • Manage branch assets to ensure speed to market.
  • Execute Core Strategy I and II activities in branches and throughout district.
    • Ensure branch planners are in place at all branches and take responsibility for execution.
    • Maintain the stocks of gases and hard‑goods at all locations to ensure high fulfillment.
    • Ensure branch and field sales associates are adequately trained and focus on the details of our customers’ needs and requirements. Focuses on increased accuracy and SAP proficiency.
  • Optimize profit margins through plan execution, maintain operating expenses aligned with GP goals, customer service and growth plans.
  • Execute plans to realize strategic pricing targets.
  • Provide support for transition of targeted customers to Total Access sales program.
  • Ensure effective collaboration, teamwork and communication throughout district.
  • Ensure safe environment at all Airgas facilities.
  • Other projects/initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Four‑year college degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Sales Management, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of increasing responsibility in B2B sales/operations with team and P&L experience in distribution industry involving gases, welding supplies or similar industrial products.
  • Track record of achieving profitable sales growth.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to develop and manage team of experienced sales professionals with emphasis on customer excellence.
  • Versatility to function effectively in fast‑paced changing environment.
  • Excellent motivational, analytical and presentation skills; ability to develop successful sales strategy to acquire new business.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business and accounting concepts including ROI, P&L, balance sheets, interest and leasing calculations and margin responsibilities.
  • Tough‑minded change agent who challenges status quo and acts with sense of urgency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence others and create cross‑functional alignment.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in development of action plans and to ensure accountability and follow‑through.
  • Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
