Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment in an acute care setting requiring ND or compact RN license and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of an acute care hospital
- 4-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3 depending on acuity
- Care for patients with DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac conditions, medical detox, and managing art lines and CVP
- RNs are required to titrate ICU drips and interpret their own monitor strips
- Experience with various respiratory equipment, including nasal cannula, vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen
- No charge nurse on shift; ER oversees the ICU
- No nurse aides or patient care techs are present on the unit
- Uses MEDITECH EMR
- Night shifts with 12-hour shift length; weekends and holidays as needed
- Floating required to Med/Surg or ER for 1:1 assignments
- Navy scrubs required
- RNs are expected to troubleshoot and manage all respiratory equipment up to and including ventilators
- Orientation consists of three 12-hour shifts
- Director creates scheduling; no self-scheduling available
- Fit testing for PPE is required; facial hair impeding fit test may result in contract cancellation
- Must wear navy scrubs
- First to float status for travelers
- Must report requested time off (RTO) upfront and limit to a maximum of seven days per 13-week contract; no additional RTO approved after offer
- Attributes for success include coachability, motivation, teamwork, and the ability to maintain safety standards
- Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum one year of ICU RN experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
- TNCC, TCAR, or verifiable experience with trauma patient care required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips
- Must provide a copy of valid driver's license
- Two references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last three years
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility and may not be current full time, part time, or PRN employees of any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities
