Sales Trainee – Butler Machinery

Overview: Butler Machinery is seeking a passionate individual eager to learn the sales and support operations of our Equipment business. The Sales Trainee will acquire knowledge of all business functions and provide sales support across departments. The role may be based in Minot, Dickinson, or Bismarck, ND.

• Become fluent with all brands, equipment, and services in our Ag and Construction businesses.
• Learn and become an expert user of business systems such as DBS, BMTS, AX, and Texada.
• Job shadow various departments and individuals at stores and the corporate office to understand business processes, programs, procedures, and culture.
• Develop relationships with specific customer accounts assigned to you, following a planned approach set by your manager.
• Support Ag Product Specialists and Heavy Demo Equipment Operators with machine startups or demos across the territory.
• Complete all assigned Online Product Training to familiarize yourself with our product offerings.
• Assist with setting up and participating in farm shows, trade shows, and other customer outreach events.
• Travel as required: day trips to support neighboring stores, overnight trips for trade shows/training, and job shadows or support at corporate or other facilities.
• Work within and promote the vision, mission, and values of BMC.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Agri‑Business or a related major, or an equivalent combination of business experience, training, and education.
• Basic knowledge of Ag equipment, current farming practices, heavy equipment, or construction/dirt work operations.
• Basic knowledge of retail finance contracts and leasing.
• Problem‑solving skills.
• Microsoft computer skills.
• Excellent motivation and a self‑starter with high energy to learn and do more.
• Willingness to relocate for future opportunities such as CAM, Product Specialist, Demo Operator, or other associated roles in the BMC Territory (ND, SD, NE, MT).
