SummaryOperates magnetic resonance imaging equipment, computers, and image management systems utilized in performing MRI exams. Collaborates with the radiologist and fellow staff members regarding patient testing. Complies with MRI safe practices at all times.
Responsibilities- Assists in the diagnosis and treatment of neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Acquires or produces tomographic images of designated portions of the human body to obtain a diagnosis using magnetic resonance imaging equipment.
- Prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images of the body.
- Ensures prompt submission of all high‑quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality and patient data/history).
- Performs patient pre‑screening, scheduling, and education related to the examination.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly department including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other departmental areas.
- Performs contrast injections under the direct supervision of the radiologist or designated physician.
- Completes additional duties as needed based on departmental needs.
- High School Diploma/GED and specialized diploma graduate of an accredited Radiology program.
- Ability to handle medical and confidential information ethically.
- Ability to maintain maturity and exercise judgment with patients, equipment, and personnel involved in MRI exams.
- Clear and concise written and oral communication skills, including email.
- Technical data interpretation skills.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (State of Pennsylvania) upon hire.
- Registered Technologist Radiology (RT) – State of Pennsylvania upon hire, or MR - Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT State of Pennsylvania within 1 year, or ARMRIT – Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist with the American Registry of MRI Technologists within 1 year.
- Knowledge of insurance benefit and eligibility websites.
- Knowledge of medical insurance terminology.
Lift and carry 40–50 lbs. Perform push/pull patient transfers requiring 29 lbs. push force; lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Require frequent to continuous standing, walking, and patient transport duties up to 8–10 miles per shift. May need to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR as required.
