Advocates of guest experience who welcome, thank, and exceed guest service expectations by focusing on guest interaction, loyalty enrollment and store cleanliness. Advocates of both in-store and digital services and solutions who are knowledgeable about capabilities and features that drive adoption and guest loyalty. Empowered to make shopping quick and easy for guests at the checklanes, guest services, gift registry, pick-up and drive up while ensuring exceptional quality.

  • Promoting and engaging around various benefits, offerings and services

Typical responsibilities
As a Guest Advocate, no two days are the same, but a typical day will likely include the following responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks
  • Engage with guests to help solve their specific needs
  • Make the guest aware of current promos, store activities and events
  • Be knowledgeable about tools, products, and services available in the total store to solve issues and improve guest experience
  • Thank guests and let them know you’re happy they chose to shop at Target
  • Know and speak to the benefits of Target Loyalty programs and assist with application or sign-up as needed
  • Scan and bag items efficiently, accurately and in compliance with safety standards
  • Work efficiently to minimize guest wait time while maintaining service and accuracy
  • Understand and show guests how to use Target App features including Wallet
  • Be familiar with Order Pick-Up, Drive Up and online ordering; direct guests to enroll, activate and use these features
  • Handle returns following store policies; partner with Leaders as needed to resolve guest issues
  • Maintain a clean, clutter-free work area and stock supplies during store hours
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; work safely and report hazards
  • Support guest services such as order pickup, drive-up orders, and drive-up returns; comply with laws and policies
  • All other duties based on business needs

From training and experience you should have:

  • Effective communication and positive language; attentive to guests’ needs
  • Welcoming attitude toward guests and team members
  • Attention to detail; ability to multitask
  • Willingness to educate guests about products and services
  • Ability to operate handheld scanners and other technology; work independently and in a team
  • Remain focused in a fast-paced environment

Basic expectations
Accurately handle checkout operations and transactions; support cash office as needed

  • Scan, handle and move merchandise safely; lift up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 44 lbs occasionally
  • Flexible schedule; reliable attendance
  • Remain mobile for the duration of a shift
  • Work in varying temperatures and conditions (Drive-Up, carryout, etc.)
