Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose issues in Breton systems or equipment using blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and rebuild Breton calibrating, polishing, and Vibro-Press equipment.
  • Fabricate and machine simple components and modify off‑the‑shelf parts for finished assemblies.
  • Implement safety protocols in all tasks, ensuring that ergonomics and hazard elimination are prioritized.
  • Monitor and assess product quality and process efficiency, taking corrective actions as needed to minimize waste and improve integrity.
  • Assemble, maintain, test, repair, and troubleshoot existing products.
  • Operate milling machines, lathes, band saws, and other machine shop tools.
  • Construct prototypes and small‑run production systems.
  • Identify and propose improvements for productivity and cost reduction within the work area, communicating with team members to implement solutions.
  • Inform supervisor of operational status of equipment and notify of any problem areas.
  • Follow Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Standard Operating Procedures seeking continuous improvement in the process tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Keep work area safe, clean, and organized.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a directly related field of study and the following experience:
    • 5 years of experience in an Engineering and Research & Development (R&D) environment.
    • 5 years of experience working with quartz materials or quartz technologies.
    • 5 years of experience in troubleshooting and rebuilding Breton calibrating, polishing, and Vibro-Press equipment.
    • 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering principles, including design and analysis of mechanical systems; material selection and processing; thermodynamics; fluid mechanics; and manufacturing processes.
    • 2 years of experience in diagnosing issues in Breton systems or Breton equipment using blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Any suitable combination of education, training, and professional work experience is acceptable. Experience may be gained concurrently.
  • In lieu of the above, the employer will accept the following:
    • 1.7 years of experience in an Engineering and Research & Development (R&D) environment.
    • 7 years of experience working with quartz materials or quartz technologies.
    • 7 years of experience in troubleshooting and rebuilding Breton calibrating, polishing, and Vibro-Press equipment.
    • 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering principles, including design and analysis of mechanical systems; material selection and processing; thermodynamics; fluid mechanics; and manufacturing processes.
    • 2 years of experience in diagnosing issues in Breton systems or Breton equipment using blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Any suitable combination of education, training, and professional work experience is acceptable. Experience may be gained concurrently.
