Looking for a new engineering challenge without the regular travel?

Our client is seeking a hands‑on Facilities & Equipment Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of equipment maintenance and facilities support within a growing, regulated manufacturing environment. This is a varied, predominantly site-based role covering over 50 pieces of laboratory and production equipment, alongside cleanroom, utilities and building services.

You will combine practical fault‑finding and preventative maintenance with coordinating specialist repairs, managing contractors and ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable and ready for use.

You won't be expected to repair every specialist piece of equipment yourself, but you will need the technical knowledge to diagnose problems, resolve issues where possible and organise the right support when needed.

This opportunity could suit an experienced:

  • Field Service Engineer
  • Field Technician
  • Maintenance Engineer
  • Laboratory Equipment Engineer
  • Facilities Maintenance Technician

Particularly someone looking to move away from regular travel and customer‑site visits into a stable, site‑based engineering position, while retaining the variety and technical challenges of their current role. Experience with the specific equipment is not essential, as training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across laboratory, production and facilities equipment.
  • Diagnose faults, resolve issues and coordinate specialist repairs.
  • Manage servicing, calibration and maintenance schedules.
  • Arrange and oversee external contractors and specialist engineers.
  • Maintain equipment records, asset registers, service documentation and maintenance tickets.
  • Support equipment validation, verification and qualification activities.
  • Identify improvements to equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
  • Promote Health & Safety and ensure compliance with relevant procedures.
Equipment & Environment

The role covers a broad range of technical equipment, including production machinery, laboratory ovens and pumps, mixers, testing equipment, microscopes, cleanroom systems, HVAC, compressors and building services. You will work closely with Production, R&D and Quality teams within a regulated manufacturing environment.

About You

You will be a practical, organised engineer who enjoys fault‑finding, problem‑solving and taking ownership of maintenance activities.

Essential:
  • Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in field service, equipment maintenance or engineering.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault‑finding skills.
  • Experience of preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Good organisational, communication and record‑keeping skills.
  • A sound understanding of Health & Safety.
Desirable:
  • Laboratory, manufacturing or facilities maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 or GMP.
  • HVAC, cleanroom or calibration experience.
  • IOSH qualification.
Salary & Benefits

£45,000–£50,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • 5% employer pension contribution.
  • Health & Wellbeing Programme.
  • Buy and Sell Annual Leave Scheme.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • Training and development opportunities.
The Opportunity

A chance to step away from regular field‑based travel and take responsibility for a varied engineering role within one established site. If you enjoy practical engineering, solving problems and making a real difference to equipment reliability, we'd love to hear from you.

Our client is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates
