Band Senior Sister/Charge Nurse – Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at The Horton General Hospital currently has an opportunity for a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to support a fixed term maternity post. This role will involve working day, night and weekend shifts in a fast‑paced 24‑hour clinical area.

• Lead and motivate the Emergency Department team, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.
• Apply critical thinking in clinical decision‑making to maintain high‑quality, compassionate care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver patient‑centred care, participating in shift handovers and briefings.
• Support the development and delivery of staff training and competency programmes.
• Maintain and review clinical quality and safety standards, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Previous experience working in an Emergency Department is essential.
• Registered nurse with current UK registration and appropriate level of competence.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
• Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development.
