Elementary School French Teacher
The Elementary School French Teacher imparts foundational French language skills to students engagingly and interactively. This role involves creating a positive learning environment, designing curriculum, and fostering cultural appreciation while promoting language proficiency among Grades 3–8 elementary school students.
About the Role- Design and develop an age-appropriate French language curriculum for Grades 3–8, aligned with Ontario curriculum expectations and focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.
- Prepare and execute engaging lesson plans, incorporating various teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Teach fundamental grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation of the French language.
- Evaluate students' language proficiency through quizzes, tests, and assignments, providing constructive feedback to students and parents through report cards and parent‑teacher meetings.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging student participation and facilitating effective communication in French while maintaining and fostering Islamic values.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to integrate French language learning into cross‑curricular activities and school events.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding students' progress, learning goals, and strategies to support language development at home.
- Passionate about teaching the French language and genuinely motivated to make it accessible and enjoyable for elementary students.
- Patient, adaptable, and able to create a supportive learning environment where all students feel capable of growing in the language.
- Creative in developing engaging teaching materials and activities, with strong communication and organisational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; specialisation in French language or literature is preferred
- OCT certification is a strong asset
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience
- Proficiency in French, both written and spoken
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and motivate elementary school students
- Familiarity with educational technology and resources for language learning
- Committed to supporting the school's Islamic values and tarbiyah mission
