We are currently recruiting for an experienced Civils Estimator to join an established contractor working on projects across the Scottish Highlands.
This is a permanent opportunity for an Estimator with a strong civil engineering or construction background to play a key role in the preparation of competitive tenders and cost estimates for a variety of projects.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for civil engineering projects
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Carry out quantity take-offs and produce accurate costings
- Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
- Price labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages
- Identify potential risks and opportunities within tender submissions
- Assist with tender programmes and construction methodology
- Liaise with operational, commercial and engineering teams during the tender process
- Attend tender meetings, site visits and pre-contract discussions where required
- Maintain accurate estimating records and cost information
- Support handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team
- Ensure submissions are completed accurately and within tender deadlines
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have previous estimating experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction
.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction or civil engineering sector
- Strong understanding of civil engineering methods and costs
- Experience preparing tenders and detailed estimates
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and bills of quantities
- Good knowledge of labour, plant and material costs
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good commercial awareness
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Relevant construction, civil engineering or quantity surveying qualification would be advantageous
- Full UK driving licence
This is a permanent position with an established contractor offering ongoing work across the Scottish Highlands.
The role would suit an experienced Civils Estimator looking for a long-term opportunity, as well as someone with strong commercial or quantity surveying experience looking to develop further within estimating.
