About the Role
GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and reliable Support Worker to work closely with pupils who require additional day-to-day assistance. The role involves supporting students both in and out of the classroom, helping them engage with learning, develop independence, and manage social and emotional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals with experience in education, care, youth work, or support settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support

  • Assist pupils in accessing learning activities

  • Support social, emotional, and behavioural development

  • Help implement individual support and intervention plans

  • Promote independence and confidence

  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff

  • Support during transitions, breaks, and activities

  • Monitor and record pupil progress

  • Provide personal care support where required

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in a support setting

  • Understanding of SEN and/or SEMH needs (desirable)

  • Patient, caring, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to build positive professional relationships

  • Relevant care, support, or education experience

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
