Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical Contractor​/Mechanical Construction

Overview

A leading commercial mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities in the Maryland & Washington D.C area is growing and is seeking to add a motivated Assistant Project Manager to support the project delivery team. • Support Project Managers in all phases of project delivery, from pre-construction through closeout.
• Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting.
• Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with field supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor material procurement and delivery schedules.
• Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and compliance with company standards.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
• Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, warranty documents, and as-built drawings.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical construction, mechanical contracting, or a related field.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar project management software a plus.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow into a Project Manager role.
