Security Specialist

Overview

As a Target Security Specialist you will support Target’s values and culture by keeping guests, team members and the brand secure. The role requires intelligence‑led tactics, crisis response, and effective use of Target’s video surveillance system. Pay ranges from $20.50 to $30.75 per hour.

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests at the front of the store.
• Promote a physical security culture by assessing and maintaining safe and secure standards throughout the store and exterior property.
• Respond to and accurately document security incidents in a timely manner.
• Leverage de‑escalation tactics and resources when responding to security incidents across the store.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as needed, strictly adhering to AP policies.
• Prevent theft and shortage at the front of store by performing merchandise receipt checks while adhering to AP policies.
• Submit appropriate documentation in the case management system for all incidents following AP policy and procedures.
• Understand and appropriately use Target’s video surveillance system.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
• All other duties based on business needs.

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established time frames.
• Enjoy interacting and helping others (including guests that shop our store and fellow team members).
• Thrive in a fast‑moving, highly active, and physically demanding role, where teamwork, flexibility and creative problem solving are key to success.
• Open to working a flexible work schedule with varying hours, days or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak shopping times).
• Climb up and down ladders; apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy; scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds.
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary.
• Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
