Nurse practitioners provide general medical care and treatment to patients in medical facilities such as clinics, health centers, or public health agencies, under the direction of a Physician.
Responsibilities- Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and Physician instructions.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs.
- Record physical findings and formulate a plan and prognosis based on patients’ condition.
- Discuss cases with Physicians and other health professionals to prepare a comprehensive patient care plan.
- Submit health care plans and individual patient goals for periodic review and evaluation by a Physician.
- Prescribe or recommend drugs or other treatments such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related procedures.
- Refer patients to Physicians for consultation or to specialized resources for treatment.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Graduate of an accredited master’s of nursing program.
- Meet state requirements (Wisconsin or Illinois) to perform duties defined as those of a Nurse Practitioner.
- Hold a valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Hold a valid APNP license in the state of practice.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, and smell. Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally requires distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. Exerts up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.
Requires occasional travel and home visits.
