A Typical Day

Job Responsibilities
  • Use basic power tools, welding tools, forklift, articulating booms, etc. to complete assigned projects.
  • Read blueprints and do layout work/sketches.
  • Use plasma cutter for various projects.
  • Timely analysis and repair of all breakdowns in plants using basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Troubleshoot and wire a 3‑phase motor.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 110 V and 24 V control wiring.
  • Rebuild centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed according to HCC safety policies.
  • Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation and teamwork with production operators to maintain and repair plant equipment.
  • Properly prioritize issues and take personal accountability to make sure all repairs fit the core valve of “Excellence”.
  • Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.
  • Help coach and train teammates and participate in on‑the‑job, buddy training.
  • Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
  • Participate in food safety and sanitation root‑cause analysis and improvement activities when required.
  • Prioritize safety above all other job duties by always having a safety‑first approach.
  • Report any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow up.
  • Participate in departmental safety teams.
  • May be required to participate in ERT and Hazmat teams.
What You Will Need
  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English.
  • 1 year of industrial manufacturing experience OR completion of technical program.
  • Competent knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Ability to verbalize troubleshooting methods.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and rotating shifts (day/swing/graveyard).
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of certificate or training program in Industrial Maintenance, Automotive or Diesel Equipment repair, or related coursework.
  • 1 year SAP experience.
  • 2 years of dairy manufacturing experience and 1 year of operator‑based maintenance experience.
  • 4 years of Industrial Manufacturing experience and/or 2 years of Industrial, Automotive, Diesel, or Agricultural Maintenance experience.
  • Basic knowledge of gas, TIG, MIG and arc welding – moved from “need” section since most of the welding is done by 3rd party vendors.

  • Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Stand and walk almost the entire workday.
  • Employees must be physically capable of working in any of the job tasks within the cheese plant.
  • Required to work at heights and in fairly small areas.
  • Push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, handle and grasp, twist/turn, repetitive bending.
