Position: RN Dodge City/Liberal Float

Overview

The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Registered Nurse to join our team in our Dodge City, KS office and float to our Liberal, KS office on an as needed basis. The typical work week is Monday‑Thursday, 8:00 AM‑4:30 PM and Friday 8:00 AM‑Noon with no major holidays, no on‑call and no weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding status and medical history; collect and record nursing assessment and interventions.
  • Review and report results of health status assessment and physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider and take appropriate action based on standard or verbal orders.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
  • Assure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided; apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
  • Maintain work environment; restock supplies as needed.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen.
  • Maintain all disinfection protocols and ensure equipment is maintained according to quality control standards.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care; manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
  • Assist physician with exams and procedures.
  • Maintain efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart; facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
  • Assist and collaborate with clinical research.
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
  • Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing by pursuing ongoing educational opportunities.
  • Program portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provide instruction to patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, clean pumps after use, and provide proper documentation of pump usage.
