Title: Retail Sales Clerk
Department: ACE Hardware
Reports To: Store Manager

Job Summary

The Retail Sales Clerk is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers at Ace Hardware. This role involves a range of tasks from assisting customers with their needs to managing inventory and maintaining the store’s cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Assist customers with product inquiries, purchases, and recommendations to ensure a satisfying shopping experience.
  • Inventory Management: Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and manage inventory levels to ensure products are readily available for customers.
  • Theft Prevention: Monitor the sales floor to deter theft and report suspicious activities.
  • Store Maintenance: Keep the store clean and orderly by removing trash, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and performing other cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Cash Handling: Operate the cash register, process transactions accurately, and reconcile receipts daily.
  • Delivery Management: Unload delivery trucks and properly organize new inventory in the store.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as required to support store operations and customer needs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members. Must be able to speak and understand English to effectively communicate and perform job duties.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage tasks efficiently and keep the work area organized.
  • Customer Service: Strong focus on providing high-quality service and addressing customer needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in handling transactions, stocking, and maintaining store appearance.

    Ability to work effectively with co‑workers, supervisors, and customers.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior experience in construction or hardware sales is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with home repair and hardware products is advantageous.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Competence in performing physical tasks including twisting, turning, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
