As a Heavy Equipment Technician, your daily impact is visible in the quality and reliability of every machine you touch. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lubrication & Inspection:
Master oil, air, and fuel filtration procedures, grease points and capacities, and employ advanced inspection techniques to proactively detect abnormal conditions. - Paint and Bodywork:
Execute precise body repairs and painting, restoring equipment to optimal appearance and function. - Machine Shop Operations:
Utilize welding and burning equipment; operate lathes, saws, shapers, grinders, and presses to fabricate and repair critical components. - Injector-Governor Expertise:
Diagnose, service, and overhaul fuel injector pumps, nozzles, and engine governors, ensuring peak engine performance. - Water & Air-Cooled Engine Rebuilds:
Assist in the complete overhaul and testing of both gas and diesel engines as well as various air-cooled engines. - Transmission and Rear-End Systems:
Overhaul mechanisms that transfer engine power, supporting the productivity and reliability of all heavy equipment. - Parts Management:
Navigate parts catalogs for procurement and handling, manage storage, and contribute to cost-effective parts strategies. - Electrical Systems:
Overhaul starters, generators, and voltage regulators, ensuring smooth operation of electrical components. - Shop & Field Repair:
Repair and overhaul a full suite of heavy equipment, including crawler and wheel tractors, cranes, front end loaders, rollers, subgrade mixers, motor graders, compactors, pumps, and air compressors — both in the shop and out in the field. - Preventative Maintenance:
Perform field repairs and implement preventative maintenance practices that maximize equipment service life and uptime. - Physical Dexterity:
Utilize motion skills including climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, driving, riding, pushing, pulling, vibrating, twisting, kneeling, walking, standing, lying, rolling, reaching, and hammering. - Heavy Lifting:
Safely lift up to 50 lbs. as repairs demand. - Tool Mastery:
Work efficiently with a wide array of tools, from wrenches and screwdrivers to pneumatic wrenches, impact tools, and measuring devices. - Flexible
Hours:
Embrace overtime and variable schedules, including exposure to hot, cold, and wet weather conditions. - Travel Requirements:
Ride to and from job sites; operate company vehicles (must meet APAC Driver Qualification Standards); heavy truck mechanics must possess a Commercial Driver’s License and pass DOT exams per State and Federal regulations. Air brakes skills test required for vehicles with air brakes.
