Senior General Accountant

We are looking for a Senior General Accountant with a minimum of 5 years of relevant General Accounting experience to oversee and support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing activities, and audit requirements. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with internal departments.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and accounting documentation.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
- Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Manage and review Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions.
- Perform and review bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and assist with monthly financial statements, management reports, and financial analysis.
- Monitor departmental expenses and support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control activities.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and finance-related matters.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Identify accounting discrepancies, investigate variances, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Contribute to improving accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff where required.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in General Accounting, preferably in a structured corporate environment in Qatar.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
- Experience handling AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Native-level Arabic and English proficiency is required.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Candidates currently based in Qatar are required.
