Organizational ContextThe UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Yemen and key education partners, supports the strengthening of education sector governance, coordination, monitoring, and evidence‑based planning in Yemen. UNESCO serves as the Coordinating Agency of the Local Education Group (LEG) and chairs the Development Partners Group (DPG) in Yemen, supporting sector dialogue, coordination, joint reviews, and engagement among key education stakeholders.
Within the framework of the Yemen System Capacity Grant (SCG), UNESCO supports interventions aimed at strengthening sector coordination mechanisms, institutionalizing sector monitoring and reporting systems, and reinforcing evidence‑based planning and accountability across the education sector.
UNESCO seeks to recruit a Project Associate to provide technical and operational support to project implementation and coordination efforts, with a particular focus on sector coordination, joint reviews, monitoring and reporting processes, and stakeholder engagement.
The incumbent will also support the coordination and implementation of other project activities within the SCG, as required.
Project Associate – Responsibilities- Support to Sector Coordination and Joint Reviews:
- Coordinate with the Ministry of Education, LEG, DPG, donors, and education partners.
- Organise and document meetings, consultations, workshops, and joint review processes.
- Follow up on agreed actions, sector priorities, and review recommendations.
- Prepare agendas, minutes, presentations, briefing notes, and follow‑up action lists.
- Support communication, information sharing, and documentation of key coordination outcomes.
- Support to Sector Monitoring and Reporting:
- Assist with sector monitoring, reporting, and accountability activities.
- Collect, review, and consolidate partner updates and monitoring inputs.
- Support the use and follow‑up of monitoring and reporting tools.
- Maintain project and sector coordination records and documentation.
- Project Coordination Support:
- Support day‑to‑day project coordination and implementation.
- Assist with follow‑up on project activities, work‑plans, meetings, and timelines.
- Prepare simple technical inputs, reports, summaries, and briefing notes.
- Support communication with project partners and stakeholders.
- Missions and Field Support:
- Undertake missions, when required and subject to security clearance, to support project activities.
- Provide coordination and logistical support during field activities, meetings, and workshops.
- Other Duties:
- Support administrative, operational, and logistical tasks related to project implementation.
- Assist in preparing donor reporting inputs, updates, and related documents.
- Contribute to communication, coordination, and knowledge management activities.
- Perform other related tasks as requested by UNESCO.

University degree (BA or equivalent) in Education, International Development, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience.

Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic is required.
Desirable Qualifications- Working experience with UN agencies would be an advantage.
- Experience in Education in Emergencies (EiE) projects or programmes, and collaboration with the ministry of education and development partners is preferable.
- Excellent knowledge of education sector coordination mechanisms, particularly Local Education Groups (LEGs) and Development Partners Groups (DPGs) is preferable.
The annual remuneration for the post is QAR 230,251. UNESCO Service Contract benefits include 30 days of annual leave, contribution to a pension scheme, and health insurance upon proof of inscription.
