Role Overview

The Lifting Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all lifting operations on-site to ensure compliance with safety regulations, project standards, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong practical knowledge of lifting procedures, equipment, and safety protocols in civil construction environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and monitor all lifting activities on the project site.
  • Ensure lifting operations are executed according to the approved Lift Plans and Method Statements.
  • Verify the inspection and certification status of lifting equipment, cranes, slings, shackles, and rigging tools.
  • Communicate effectively with crane operators, riggers, and site supervision to ensure safe lifting execution.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement control measures to avoid incidents or unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct toolbox talks prior to lifting operations and provide awareness on safe lifting procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and relevant industry safety regulations at all times.
  • Report unsafe practices, near-misses, and incidents promptly to the Safety Manager or Project Engineer.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Lifting Supervisor in civil construction projects.
  • Experience in the Middle East is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of lifting equipment, crane operations, and rigging practices.
  • Ability to read and understand technical lifting plans and safety documents.
  • Candidates must be available to attend a client interview for final approval.
  • Develop and implement lift plans, coordinate teams (crane operators, riggers, signalmen), and ensure proper ground conditions.
  • Coordinating and supervising all lifting activities in accordance with the Lifting Plan.
  • Responsible for the assessment of heavy/critical lifting operations to ensure that planning, selection of cranes and lifting equipment and accessories, instruction and supervision as necessary is in place to enable the lifting task to be safely executed.
  • Brief all lifting team members on the Lifting Plan, risk control measures and safe lifting procedure before the commencement of any lifting operation.
  • Inspect lifting equipment (cranes, slings, etc.), ensure they are in good working order, and that the correct equipment is used for the lift.
  • Maintain accurate records of lift plans, risk assessments, equipment inspections, and other relevant documentation.
  • Frequent contact with Site In charge and Supervisors in exchanging information and suggestions related to the developing and maintaining lifting equipment inspection, maintenance and operating systems, processes and procedures to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Ensure ground conditions are safe for any lifting operation to be performed by mobile cranes.
  • If unsafe conditions are reported, take suitable measures to rectify the conditions so that the lifting operation can be conducted safely.
