As the Art Director – Arabic News Channels you will be responsible for leading the executive creative direction and visual execution for Arabic-language news channels, including Al Jazeera Arabic (AJA) and Al Jazeera Mubasher (AJM).
The position responsibility is to ensures that all visual content aligns with the organization’s corporate identity, brand standards, and editorial values, while supporting daily news production and enhancing the viewer experience across broadcast and digital platforms.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee all creative and visual outputs for Arabic-language news channels, including Al Jazeera Arabic (AJA) and Al Jazeera Mubasher (AJM), covering on-air graphics, daily news visuals, promos, and digital and social media designs.
- Ensure all creative work complies with corporate identity guidelines and visual governance frameworks while maintaining the distinct editorial tone of each news channel.
- Work closely with Channel Managing Directors and editorial leadership on daily news coverage, breaking news, visual storytelling, and continuous improvement of audience experience.
- Manage, supervise, and develop creative teams embedded within the Arabic news channels, including graphic design, interactive visual content, promotions, and digital visual production.
- Oversee administrative and managerial responsibilities related to team performance, task allocation, workflow planning, and resource optimization within the channels.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director of Global Brand & Corporate Identity to ensure visual consistency, quality assurance, and alignment with institutional brand strategy across Arabic news platforms.
- Act as the primary creative liaison between Arabic news channels and the Global Brand & Corporate Identity department.
- Contribute to the development and continuous enhancement of visual standards, templates, and workflows for Arabic news production.
- Participate in joint performance evaluation processes involving both channel management and Global Brand leadership.
- Ensure timely delivery, high production quality, and creative resilience in fast-paced news environments, including breaking and live news scenarios.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Media Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in art direction or creative leadership, preferably within news broadcasting or large media organizations.
- Strong experience in news graphics, on-air branding, breaking news visuals, motion graphics, and digital-first news design
. - Experience working in matrix reporting structures and multi-channel news environments is highly desirable.
