Al Jazeera Media Network’s Digital Team is looking for a Senior Engagement Producer to sit at the centre of the fast-moving digital news cycle — leading the team responsible for transforming breaking stories and trending conversations into impactful content across social and digital platforms. From rapid-fire social updates and short-form video to raw footage and compelling visual assets, this role drives content that captures attention and fuels audience engagement.

We’re looking for someone who is digitally savvy with exceptional editorial judgment.

The Senior Engagement Producer will work closely with Editorial Management to determine editorial priorities, providing insight based on his or her awareness of online trends and conversations, and assign/commission relevant media content to Engagement Production team. This role will drive the production of media content to enhance conversations on our social platforms and compliment text stories on our website. Working closely with Engagement Editors in establishing and understanding best practices and ensuring that they are carried out is a key responsibility of this position.

This role requires sound editorial judgment ensuring that all content published by the Engagement Production Team has been accurately vetted, sourced and verified. A strong understanding of digital storytelling through video, text and social content is essential.

• Assign, Approve and Produce digital media content: tweets, videos, graphics, memes, etc.
• Oversee re-versioning of broadcast content for digital and social platforms
• Lead coverage of live events on social media, including live tweeting, fact checking, cutting raw videos and producing graphic cards
• Work with Planning Department for coverage plans of future news events
• Be primary voice in editorial meetings on emerging stories on social media
• Lead experimentation with content creation and distribution strategies for new platforms
• Analyze social media trends to continually enhance best practices
• Ensure consistent accuracy and quality of content being produced by Engagement Production Team
• Work closely with Engagement Editors on establishing and documenting best practices

Bachelor Degree in journalism or digital media, or relevant experience.

At least 5 years experience in Online Journalism/Media.
At least 2 years experience in a Senior Role. Proven experience producing high performing content optimized for social media and digital platforms.
