Consultant Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon Position Summary
The Consultant Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon provides advanced surgical and non-surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital, developmental, and traumatic musculoskeletal conditions. The role requires a Tier-1, Western-trained consultant with extensive experience in complex pediatric orthopaedic procedures within a tertiary care setting.
Minimum Qualifications & Licensing RequirementsTier-1 Accepted Qualifications
- UK CCT / CESR (Trauma & Orthopaedics – Pediatric focus)
- American Board Certification (Orthopaedic Surgery + Pediatric Orthopaedics fellowship)
- Canadian RCPSC Fellowship
- Irish CSCST
- Australian FRACS (Orthopaedic Surgery – Pediatric)
- German Facharzt (Orthopaedics / Pediatric Orthopaedics)
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years post-consultant experience in pediatric orthopaedic surgery.
- Demonstrated case volume in complex deformity correction and trauma.
Licensing:
- Eligible for DOH or DHA Consultant License.
- Data Flow verification and DOH/DHA exam or exemption according to Tier-1 status.
- Manage and surgically treat the full spectrum of pediatric orthopaedic conditions, including:
- Congenital limb and foot deformities
- Hip disorders (DDH, Perthes, SCFE)
- Limb length discrepancy
- Scoliosis and spine deformity (if trained)
- Neuromuscular conditions (CP, spina bifida)
- Pediatric fractures and trauma
- Perform corrective surgery, reconstructive procedures, and guided growth techniques.
- Conduct outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and perioperative management.
- Collaborate closely with pediatricians, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, and radiology teams.
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation and adhere to UAE clinical standards.
- Expertise in congenital deformity correction
- Strong surgical judgment and perioperative management
- Excellent communication with children and families
- Effective teamwork within a multidisciplinary environment
- Commitment to evidence-based pediatric orthopaedic practice
- Scheduled operating lists
- Pediatric orthopaedic clinics and inpatient rounds
- Participation in on-call rota for trauma and emergency cases
