Summary

The purpose of this role is to provide specialist clinical care in Infectious Diseases across HMC facilities, supporting the delivery of high quality, evidence based patient care. The Consultant manages a broad range of infectious conditions including complex, multidrug resistant, and opportunistic infections in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

• Minimum (5) years of experience as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases

• Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Provide specialist consultation in Infectious Diseases for inpatients and outpatients across HMC facilities.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of infectious conditions including complex, multidrug resistant, and opportunistic infections.
• Provide timely clinical advice to referring teams including critical care, oncology, transplant, internal medicine, and surgical services.
• Recommend and interpret appropriate microbiological, serological, and molecular diagnostic tests.
• Advise on antimicrobial selection, dosing, duration, and de escalation in line with antimicrobial stewardship principles.
• Participate in antimicrobial stewardship activities including prescription review and guideline development.
• Contribute to infection prevention and control practices in collaboration with microbiology and hospital epidemiology teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical case discussions.
• Maintain accurate, clear, and timely clinical documentation in line with HMC standards.
• Participate in on call rosters and provide emergency Infectious Diseases coverage as required.
• Engage in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
• Supervise and support junior doctors and trainees in clinical practice.
• Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities.
• Maintain licensure, continuing professional development, and ethical standards in line with HMC and national regulatory requirements.
