Qatar’s leading public healthcare system is expanding its molecular genetics laboratory services, and we are seeking an experienced Molecular Genetic Pathologist / Clinical Molecular Genetics Scientist to join the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP).

🔬 The Role
As a Consultant Molecular Genetic Pathologist, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality molecular diagnostics within a modern accredited laboratory environment.
You will contribute to diagnostic interpretation, laboratory development, and clinical consultation across a wide range of molecular testing services.
Key responsibilities include:
🧬 Interpreting and reporting molecular genetic diagnostic tests
🧬 Supervising specialized laboratory testing and workflows
🧬 Ensuring quality assurance and regulatory compliance (CAP, JCI, ISO standards)
🧬 Developing and validating new molecular diagnostic methodologies
🧬 Providing consultative diagnostic support to clinicians
🧬 Reviewing and updating laboratory policies, SOPs, and procedures
🧬 Training and mentoring laboratory staff and trainees
🧬 Participating in clinical research and innovation initiatives
You will work closely with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate, timely, and clinically meaningful molecular diagnostic reporting.

✔ PhD in a relevant Laboratory Science discipline
✔ Recognized Board Certification in Molecular Genetics, such as:
Candidates should demonstrate:
✔ 10–15 years of experience in an accredited molecular genetics laboratory
✔ Minimum 2 years post board-certification experience
✔ Strong expertise in molecular diagnostics, result interpretation, and independent reporting
Preferred expertise includes:
• Molecular genetics and bioinformatics
• Clinical diagnostic reporting and consultation
• Quality assurance and laboratory accreditation standards
Candidates must have the ability to independently sign out molecular genetics reports.
Licensing
Applicants must:
✔ Hold a valid medical or laboratory license from the country of current practice
⚠ Overseas recruitment only – applicants must currently practice outside Qatar.
Education
✔ PhD in a relevant Laboratory Science discipline
✔ Recognized Board Certification in Molecular Genetics, such as:
- American Board Certification
- MRCPath / FRCPath
- Equivalent internationally recognized certification
