This is a full-time, on-site Ophthalmologist role based in Doha, Qatar. The Ophthalmologist will provide comprehensive eye care, including conducting detailed eye examinations, diagnosing ocular diseases and conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans. Daily responsibilities include performing and managing medical and surgical interventions, such as cataract and other ophthalmic procedures, as well as laser treatments where indicated. The role involves close collaboration with optometrists, other physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
The Ophthalmologist will also maintain accurate medical records, counsel patients and families on treatment options and preventive eye care, and adhere to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong foundation in Medicine, with experience in managing general health conditions relevant to ophthalmic care.
- Specialized expertise in Ophthalmology, including diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of eye diseases and disorders.
- Competence in Optometry-related skills, such as refraction, prescribing corrective lenses, and assessing visual function.
- Proficiency in ocular Surgery, including day-case procedures and microsurgical techniques, with a focus on patient safety and outcomes.
- Experience with Laser applications in ophthalmology (e.g., therapeutic and corrective procedures) and related technology.
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent), completed ophthalmology residency, and recognized board certification or eligibility in Ophthalmology.
- Valid license or eligibility to be licensed to practice medicine in Qatar, in accordance with local regulatory requirements.
- Excellent clinical judgment, attention to detail, and strong communication skills for interacting with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to ethical practice, continuous professional development, and adherence to evidence-based clinical guidelines.
- Experience working in a multi-specialty clinical or surgical centre is an advantage; fluency in English required, Arabic language skills are a plus.
