Secondary Science Teacher – Newton British Academy (NBA), Doha

Newton British Academy (NBA), Barwa Campus, is a well-established British international school in Doha, Qatar, delivering the English National Curriculum from Early Years through to Secondary. Part of the Newton Group of Schools, NBA serves a diverse international community and is recognised for its high standards of teaching and learning.

The role involves planning and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that promote scientific enquiry, critical thinking, and practical investigation skills. A strong understanding of the English National Curriculum and GCSE Science specifications is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and well-planned Science lessons in line with the British National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE/IGCSE experience desirable).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes high standards of learning, behaviour, and wellbeing.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Prepare students effectively for internal assessments and external examinations.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental development, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Support students’ personal, social, and emotional development through effective pastoral care.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to support student achievement.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science or a relevant specialism (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
  • A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, BEd, QTS, or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of two years’ full-time teaching experience within a British curriculum school.
  • Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 Science (GCSE/IGCSE experience preferred).
  • Native English speaker with strong subject knowledge, classroom management, and communication skills.
  • A student-centred and inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
  • Ability to adapt confidently to a multicultural and dynamic school environment.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
